Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone in Qingdao West Coast New Area was established in 1984 and is one of China's first 14 national-level economic development zones.
Qingdao Area, of 52 sq km, is located in Qingdao West Coast New Area and incorporates 9.12 sq km of the Qingdao Qianwan Free Trade Port Zone and 2.01 sq km of the Qingdao West Coast Bonded Area.
Qingdao Bridgehead International Business District, with a planned area of about 10 square kilometers, is an important area for the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qingdao Area to undertake national International Business District strategies and provide services.
The Transport Business Zone boasts a sound transport network with railway, metro, national road and highway, is 40 km away from the Jiaodong International Airport, and is available with high-speed trains to reach the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region in two hours and the Yangtze River Delta region in three hours.
Qingdao West Coast Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone covers a total area of 1,090 square kilometers.
Located at the heart of Qingdao West Coast New Area, Qingdao Marine Hi-tech Zone has a total planned area of 175 square kilometers, of which the area of transformational development covers 55 sq km.
