As the warm summer breeze carries the salty scent of the sea across Linhai Square, a giant screen lights up to the rhythm of crashing waves. On July 4, the Shining Shinan Seaside Film Festival started off its 60 outdoor film screenings over two months in Shinan district, Qingdao. Since 2023, these events have become a favorite summer tradition for locals and visitors alike. This year's festival upgrades venues and viewing experiences to better serve the public.
Set against red roofs, green trees, and the sea, Linhai Square and nearby spaces offer diverse films—from animated adventures to romantic tales, comedies to classics. The core venue embraces a "waves and light" design, featuring Jidi Plaza, Haitian Mall, Haiqu Garden, Jinmaowan Plaza, and Yan'er Island Mountain Park to create a unique Shinan cultural atmosphere. At dusk, audiences enjoy films like Ocean Heaven, A Little Red Flower, and Successor, blending cinema with seaside charm.
The festival also reaches community spots like Tuandao Mountain Park, and Lao She Park with weekly screenings for all ages. Over 60 showings connect Shinan's coastlines and streets like pearls on a string.
Through July and August, Shinan becomes an open-air cinema where light beams give life to century-old buildings by the Yellow Sea. Families and visitors find moments of wonder in this magical seaside film celebration.
