Shinan district in Qingdao, Shandong province, invites residents and tourists to come immerse themselves in the picturesque floral charm of one of the world's most beautiful bays.
From mid-February, wintersweet blossoms sway quietly in the cold breeze. The Qingdao Art Museum offers one of the most stunning views, with golden-yellow blossoms adorning twisted branches against crimson walls.
For those seeking golden cascades of winter jasmine, Badaguan Scenic Area is the place to be. This renowned floral hot spot, featured on China's national flower map, presents a stunning contrast between the bright blossoms and European-style architecture.
In March, magnolias come into full bloom along Jinkou No 1 Road – Qingdao's first flower road, with the snowy-white petals perfectly offsetting the deep blue sea and sky.
Cherry blossoms take center stage in April, transforming Zhongshan Park into a dreamlike sea of pink. Additional viewing spots include Sanming South Road and Juyongguan Road in Badaguan. By late April, tulips at Qingdao Botanical Garden and Zhongshan Park paint the landscape in Monet-like hues.
In May, lilacs bloom at Jinkou No 2 Road and Yushan Road, filling the air with a delicate fragrance.
