Shinan's consumer market booms with record-breaking Spring Festival spending

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, Shinan district in Qingdao was brimming with a festive ambiance and a flourishing consumer market.
The Chinese New Year celebrations in the Jieli area were exceptionally vibrant. From people frolicking with seagulls at Zhanqiao Pier to the 4D immersive digital tram experience on Zhongshan Road, a multi-layered consumer ecosystem is gradually forming in Shinan. From the first to the seventh day of the first lunar month, the area welcomed a total of 2.48 million visitors, with the daily average exceeding 350,000, resulting in higher sales than the previous year.
Celebrating Chinese New Year at sea has become a popular new tradition in Shinan. Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Culture Tourist Areas have successively introduced various new winter tourism offerings, such as sea blessings, chasing seagulls and robot performances. During the Spring Festival holiday, the areas welcomed 340,100 visitors, a 4.87-percent increase over the previous year, with revenue growing by 16.10 percent.
The commercial districts in Shinan promoted consumption through a variety of activities. The Qingdao Jinmao Harbour Shopping Center saw a 15-percent increase in foot traffic and an 11-percent increase in sales with the help of face-changing magic performances and a gift with purchase promotion. The Inzone Plaza celebrated its ninth anniversary with activities like the Chinese Year Goods Festival, attracting many shoppers and increasing foot traffic and sales by 5 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively. The Qianhai Shopping Center, meanwhile, launched a consumer voucher campaign.
In addition, activities like watching movies and singing karaoke have become popular.
