A series of music events called City Music Corner kicked off in April and will last until November. More than 320 performances are scheduled to take place in 12 parts of Shinan district. These landmark areas include Shang Jie Li Silver Fish St. and Music Square. 

Since the event lasts for three seasons, it will adopt themes as the year goes by, including flower fields in spring, beer gardens in summer and old town in autumn.

Shinan's history of music dates back to almost a century ago. In 1935, Wang Mei, a music teacher, made the first violin in China. A great number of music educators and musicians were born in Qingdao. Wang Yunjie, a renowned musician who composed the famous piece Little Sparrow, lived in Qingdao for many years.

In previous years, musicians played in small groups to light up the city on summer nights, much like City Music Corner.
