Qingdao's Shinan district recently published a new version of a travel guidebook just ahead of the upcoming Shangjieli Beer Festival, aiming to attract more visitors to explore the historical area of the city.
The guidebook introduces the district's rich culture, profound history, and cultural sites including museums, celebrities' former residences and bookstores.
Officials said that people will be surprised to find many new modern landmarks in the old downtown area, where time-honored brands, stylish music corners and characteristic bazaars create a collision of old and new.

"The guidebook is perfect for people like me who never make travel plans," said a tourist surnamed Chen, who received the guidebook just as she walked out of the railway station.
"There are maps for parking lots, metro lines, bus stations and even public toilets, which is considerate," said a recent college graduates from Changsha, Hunan province.
"We introduced the guidebook ahead of the beer festival, aiming to promote the old downtown area to more young people, deepen their understanding of the area and vitalize the area with more visitors," said Yu Hua, deputy director of Shinan's culture and tourism industry development center.
