Since the beginning of this year, Shinan district in Qingdao has been working to advance government digitalization, promoting the use of the internet and big data in city construction, government services, social governance, and a variety of other areas.
The none-paper approach was chosen for the first time at a recent session of the district's Party committee, and will be widely used in all government departments.
According to officials, the change will reduce conference costs, promote a low-carbon philosophy, and, most significantly, enhance work efficiency.
The district government has also converted 116 administrative approval items from paper to digital, eliminating the need for workers to rush between departments.
In addition, Shinan recently established a digital center for historical blocks. It gathers comprehensive information about historical blocks, including investigative data for 258 historical buildings, expropriation records for 160 courtyards, and information on 58 historical figures' former residences.
The district's digital governance platform is currently connected to 20 government departments' work systems and has collected over 40 million pieces of data in areas such as public safety, education, social security, healthcare, urban management, emergency response, trade, buildings, and more.
Furthermore, more modern technology has been used in COVID-19 prevention and control, thereby lowering the danger of infection and reducing the workload of anti-epidemic professionals.
