The former residence of renowned Chinese geological expert Li Siguang is nestled in Shinan district's Taipingjiao, one of the most charming capes in Qingdao.
The red-roofed granite European-style villa was built in 1931 and was chosen by the central government to be a site for Li to recuperate in 1957.
It was in the villa that Li completed his masterpiece Introduction to Geomechanics, which has played a significant role in China's mineral resource exploration, as well as environmental and natural disaster estimation.

The Qingdao government has converted the structure into a geological museum, which has a diverse collection of rock specimens, some of which date back 250 million years.
In addition, the museum creates a dedicated exhibition hall to honor Li. It highlights Li's contributions to China's geological development, as well as his ties to Qingdao and Qingdao's geological data.
Another independent cottage in the courtyard allows guests to experience an earthquake simulator and learn how to save themselves during the natural disaster.
Location: No 1 Zhanshan'er Road, Shinan district, Qingdao.
