The Shinan district of Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province – recently won a national honor in Beijing.

The district was awarded the title of 2017-2020 Safe China Construction Demonstration County (District) and won the Chang'an Cup Award for the second time on Dec 15, at the Safe China Construction Commending Conference held in Beijing.

The district is the only county (county-level city, district) in Shandong province that has won the award twice in a row.

Shinan is considered as Qingdao's core urban area. In recent years, the district has been playing a major role in many key events – including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Qingdao Summit in 2018 and the 2019 Qingdao Multinationals Summit.

Moreover, its first chamber of commerce mediation organization and intellectual property mediation center was also established.
