The Shinan district – located in Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province – is reportedly playing a leading role in the launch of extensive tech-savvy programs for garbage classification through targeted measures, according to local media reports on Oct 15.
Recently, the 11 sub-districts of Shinan issued tagged "ID cards" – exclusive information QR codes – at 2,800 garbage classification points.
The user merely scans the WeChat QR code on the garbage receptacles at the stations to get complete information on the manager, classification instructor and other useful information. When problems such as overflowing garbage cans occur, locals can quickly contact staff by scanning the code to solve the problem promptly.
In addition, staff members can also optimize the cleaning, collection and transportation of the garbage cans to ensure that the collection point is always clean and tidy.
