The Shinan district of Qingdao city – situated in East China's Shandong province – has seen increasing public participation in low-carbon travel in the past few years, which is reflective of a broader trend to going green in society as a whole, according to local media reports.
On Aug 26, which was National Low-carbon Day, the district staged a raft of energy-saving publicity activities, reportedly attracting the participation of companies located in the local office buildings.
More than 1,000 energy saving and low-carbon pamphlets, as well as garbage classification leaflets, were sent to residents and other publicity materials were distributed at the site of the activities to further promote a green and low-carbon lifestyle to locals.
The district is focusing on quality improvements and consumption reductions related to the local building-economy – the modern movement to fully integrate an area's buildings and its commerce – and is implementing an energy-saving transformation and further improving the utilization efficiency of power and other forms of energy.
