The Shinan district of Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province – recently launched its first batch of 200,000 yuan ($30,962) electronic shopping vouchers for the 2021 Cultural & Tourism Consumption Season through an online platform.
To date, a total of 4,720 commercial transactions have taken place and 169,170 yuan ($26,096) worth of shopping coupons were used. It's reported that they have boosted the attitude of shoppers and are expected to see a lift in Shinan's consumer spending.
The coupons have face values of 5 yuan, 10 yuan, 20 yuan, 50 yuan, 100 yuan, 200 yuan and 300 yuan.
"I just learned locals can get the consumer coupon through scanning the QR code. I immediately received a 10 yuan consumer coupon," said a local resident surnamed Feng.
"I used it when I bought a book in the book store. It was a good deal," Feng added.
It's understood the coupons are being used by 15 enterprises, covering products such as books, newspapers and periodicals, films and cultural products.
The shopping campaign will continue until October and will then be followed by the issue of different consumer vouchers and other local-oriented activities to get residents and tourists excited about purchasing high-quality cultural and tourism products and services.
