Shinan district – located in Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province – boasts stunning natural views, including the Badaguan Scenic Area, Zhanqiao Pier and Zhongshan Park, and it is features like these that are in the vanguard of cultural tourism which is currently mushrooming in the area.

The district has staged a series of diverse cultural shows to offer the outside world an aesthetic feast.

It is reportedly discovering unique resources and developing them into tourism-related businesses like homestays and stylish and creative bazaars.

Series of fun cultural events, experiences staged in Shinan

Vivid characters in a new play for children – My Bay is My Sea – which portrays the sailing dreams of generations of folks living by the water, featured in a work which was staged in Shinan on Children's Day this year. 

In addition, a western-style wedding show – which presented an authentic courtyard setting for couples to tie the knot and hold receptions – was held on July 4 at Annecy Garden in the district.

Later on, the 2021 China (Qingdao) Art Expo – featuring an array of art performances and design competitions – was held on July 9-11 in Shinan.

Shinan is reportedly creating a hot cultural tourism scene, through creative bazaars along Taipingjiao Beach and the Badaguan Scenic Area.  

Qingdao Western Old Town gets revitalization boost

The intertwined development of its culture and tourism has seen Qingdao Western Old Town in Shinan transform into a place with real buzz.

The century-old historical and cultural heritage was successfully combined with the new era, to really lift the atmosphere of the precinct. Nowadays, Zhongshan Road has a rich blend of time-honored enterprises, cinemas, bookshops, museums and cafes. More and more people are now reportedly getting the feeling that the old town is coming alive.

Zhejiang Road, one of the oldest roads in the Qingdao Western Old Town, boasts many century-old buildings and exudes new vitality after having been renovated.

Shinan explores quirky products to boost tourism

Recently, ice pops shaped like local landmarks or historical treasures went viral in Shinan, as tourist attractions aimed to boost the fun being had by visitors with novel and quirky products.

The ice pops – shaped like Zhanqiao Pier, Wusi Square and the popular Daxue Road – caused some excitement.

The sweet treat comes in three irresistible flavors: fresh milk, chocolate and strawberry.
