The Shinan district of Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province -- recently organized visits by children to museums, to herald International Children's Day that was observed on June 1, according to local media reports.
Let's take at look at some of the places the kids explored:
Qingdao Museum of Marine Products, established in 1930, featured the first aquarium in China.
The museum, aiming to popularize marine knowledge and to preserve marine ecology, has displays of 1,950 species and is the custodian of more than 20,000 specimens, including about 15,000 invertebrates, 3,000 vertebrates and 2,000 examples of seaweed.
Qingdao Aquarium is home to 10 species of jellyfish, including a large jellyfish called the Pacific sea nettle -- that lives in the eastern Pacific Ocean from Canada to Mexico – as well as brown jellyfish from Japan and the pearl-like Australian spotted jellyfish.
