New play for children to be staged in Shinan

Vivid characters in a new play for children – My Bay is My Sea – will portray the sailing dreams of generations living by the water, in this classic children's tale that will be staged in the Shinan district of Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province.
The story takes place in a small fishing village near Jiaozhou Bay in Shandong province in the 1980s. Hai Qing, a young boy, has a big plan – to help his father build a three-mast galleon, that will be the largest vessel in the bay area, after which they will sail it to a mysterious island to search for treasure and pay tribute to his grandfather who died there.
Ever since he can remember, Hai Qing has listened with wonder to the stories about his grandpa, how he and his father went on a voyage to adventure. However, when he eventually sails away and the mysterious island comes into sight, Hai suddenly realizes it not only means the realization of his parent's dreams, but also the beginning his dreams for further adventures.
The play is based on the book with the same name, which won the 2018 Bing Xin Children's Book Award.
