Shinan district promotes literature

The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China
and the 130th anniversary of the founding of Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province – which is of historical significance to its district of Shinan.
Shinan wanted to stimulate and improve its creative literary culture and cater to its literature enthusiasts. In order to do so, it held the Vanke · Qindao (Harp Island) Literature Season – famous literature masters' lectures – on May 8.
The event invited domestic famous writers to give talks.
The event was established by the Qindao Island Writers Association in 2020 and the latest iteration staged a series of cultural activities, involving leading writers.
In the 1920s and 1930s, famous Chinese writers such as Liang Shiqiu, Laoshe (or Shu Qingchu), Shen Congwen and others penned famous books in Qingdao – leaving an indelible mark on the history of Chinese literature.
