With the arrival of spring, the Shinan district of Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province has quite literally become a sea of flowers.

Every street is now festooned with flowers – from cherry trees, to flowering peach trees, Chinese flowering crab apple trees, forsythia trees, ginkgo trees, crape myrtle trees, as well as red and white magnolias trees.

For visitors, promenading along the streets of Shinan is to be immersed in a magical world of flowers.

Of special interest are the Chinese crab-apple trees, which burst into bloom overnight, particularly evoking the essence of spring.
