Recently, a 51-meter-long panoramic photographic display, entitled Memory of Zhongshan Road, was unveiled in the time-honored street -- located in the Shinan district, Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province -- local media reported on Feb 3.
The pictorial display comes in the wake of a volume called Going through Zhongshan Road -- Memories of Zhongshan Road in Qingdao in 2002 (《走过中山路——2002年青岛中山路留记》) written by Yuan Binju, a scholar of literature and history in Qingdao.
Many old Qingdao residents have come to Zhongshan Road and taken photos of this huge panorama, which has evocated cherished memories.
The pictures in the display were taken early in 2002, when his photography skills were less advanced. Yuan Bingjiu walked the entire length of Zhongshan Road, taking more than 200 photos, before finally selecting the best ones, stitching them together before finishing the final long scroll.
It took some time for the cultural historian to pick out more the right photos, because it was not easy to connect all the scenes in the road.
