To curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic during the upcoming holidays, China has issued a plan to reduce mass gatherings and strengthen its epidemic controls, with a range of measures and guidance that includes advocating off-peak travel and encouraging people to stay put during the break.
In response to the national initiative, the Shinan district of Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province is providing various kinds of appealing holiday items, as well as clean and tidy epidemic-prevention materials to each immigrant worker.
Wang Xihao, a project management manager of the Haitian Center – a key project in Shinan – said the move was positive.
"As a key project of Qingdao city, the construction work of the Haitian Center has always been strongly supported by various Shinan's authorities, especially in the storage of supplies for epidemic prevention and control and the promotion of the project."
Wang added that the construction schedule of the Haitian Center project in 2021 was tight and there would be no break for the Spring Festival holiday this year.
"About 600 workers will stay at the construction site to guarantee normal construction," Wang said.
"Today, epidemic prevention materials and food were sent to the workers, so that they can work at ease and with peace of mind during the festival," the manager added.
