During construction of pipeline infrastructure along the Huangdao Road area – in the Shinan district of Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province –workers accidentally unearthed an important find.
It turned out to be a section of the boundary monument of the Sanjiang Guildhouse that had disappeared for many years, according to local media on Jan 26.
The boundary monument is engraved with the words "the boundary of Jiang-Wan-Su-Zhe (Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces) Association Hall" and there is another on Jining Road, Sifang Road. The discovery of the monument reportedly has important reference value for the investigation of the structural orientation of the Sanjiang Association Hall.
The Sanjiang Guild Hall is a local association, which was established in 1907. The museum is located on what is now Sifang Road.
On Sept 30, 1912, Sun Yat-sen -- pioneer and leader of China's republican revolution -- made a speech in the Sanjiang Association Hall. But in the 1940s, it was demolished.
Today, there still remains a council building of the old Sanjiang Association Hall structure, which shows off the style of the old days.
