The award and signing ceremonies of the 2020 Qingdao World College Student Fashion Design Competition were held in the Qingdao Fashion Industry Park in Shinan district, Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, on the evening of Dec 19.

The event attracted hundreds of fashion industry insiders from home and abroad, officials from Shinan district and Qingdao, and more.

The competition is meant to better connect the fashion industry with fashion education, and more than 20 professional judges appraised participants works based on both their commercial value and artistry.

Cui Zhenzhen from Istituto Marangoni in Italy was crowned the champion, Xie Yuqian from Istituto Marangoni and Cheng Yuxin from Donghua University took second place, and Wei Xiaofan from the Wuhan Textile University and Gu Xin and Chu Hongling from the Qingdao University of Science and Technology took third place.

Meanwhile, Wang Hanbo and He Mingyuan of Xi'an Polytechnic University and Wang Yueqi and Huang Yanru of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology won the Creativity Award, Market Potential Award, Sustainable Design Award, and Popularity Award, respectively

As the special guest of the contest, Zhu Shaofang, vice president of the China Fashion Association, said that "the contest integrates industry and education and was attended by famous fashion designers, fashion industry pundits, and representatives of fashion companies in Qingdao. It explored fashion industry personnel training mechanisms and the industry's future development trajectory."
