The basketball park at the Olympic Sailing Center in Shinan district, Qingdao in East China's Shandong province, opened to the public with a street basketball competition, the King of Kings Basketball Championship, on Dec 12.
The championship, established in 2019, has four sections, with the "city competition" having been held in 12 cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
"We recruited 16 teams, four children's teams and four media teams, and recruited more than 100 amateur players to participate in the competition. We used the single-cycle competition system to determine the final champion, who will go straight to Shanghai to participate in the finals there," said Wu Xiuwen, the person in charge of the event.
The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center is located by Fushan Bay in the New District of eastern Qingdao, facing May Fourth Square across the sea. It covers about 45 hectares and cost 3.28 billion yuan ($501.54 million).
Shinan will continue to launch activities to boost public exercise, which will help the district build itself into a fashionable and modern international urban area.
