The 2020 Italian Film Week opened on Nov 30 in the Shinan district of Qingdao city -- in East China's Shandong province – according to local officials.

The ongoing event has its theme: "World-class film and television, Chinese and Western culture, home field of Qingdao, fashion cultural tour".

Officials said the event will be used as a bridge to showcase the achievements of China and Italy in culture, commerce and art.

They said it will also promote exchanges and cooperation in the cultural, film and television, tourism and the fashion industries between China and Italy.

Officials said Rome, the capital of Italy, is one of the cultural and fashion capitals of Europe, while Qingdao was selected by UNESCO as the "Film Capital of the World".

They said Italian film week would lead to both sides learning from each other.
