Qingdao Hong Kong Road Primary School held an opening ceremony for its Jiaodong Dagu (ballad singing with drum accompaniment popular in the Jiaodong Peninsula area) training base in Shinan district, Qingdao in East China's Shandong province in mid-October, according to local media.

Yu Qingli, principal of Qingdao Hong Kong Road Primary School, introduced the school's efforts to preserve and develop Jiaodong Dagu, which is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. 

To this end, the school has employed Liang Jinhua, a national inheritor of Jiaodong Dagu. Liang organized folk musical clubs to expose students to more types of art and improve their artistic abilities. 

The repertoire performed by students in the clubs was selected as the only folk musical program from Qingdao at the 2019 National Campus Spring Festival Gala.
