The 2020 International Youth Fashion Art Festival opened in Shinan district, Qingdao in East China's Shandong province on Sept 28.

The event was jointly organized by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the government of Shinan district. The event is meant to help transform Qingdao into an international fashion city, and it will focus on "fashion culture", "fashion movement", and "fashion art".

The event, which will run until Oct 17, will feature a hip-hop competition and a street basketball competition, which will demonstrate Qingdao's youth fashion culture.

The government of Qingdao has stepped up efforts to develop the city into an international fashion hub by carrying out a new round of industrial developments in recent years.

The city is taking cues from Chinese and overseas fashion hubs like New York, Milan, London, Paris, Beijing, and Shanghai.
