A delegation of 32 senior executives from 21 leading foreign financial conglomerates and banks visited Shinan district in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province in late September to investigate the development of the district's financial industry and investment environment, according to local media on Sept 26.
Foreign banks from the United States, France, Switzerland, Japan, and Singapore, including Citibank and J. P. Morgan, were represented in the delegation.
A number of foreign bank delegations have visited Shinan in recent years, reflecting Qingdao's appeal in terms of investment and finance.
Shinan has been constructing an international fashion city, building a central activity area, and speeding up construction on five financial headquarter centers, including an economic center, international trade and finance center, and international shipping service center.
In 2019, 105 financial institutions and enterprises, including the Qingdao branch of Bank of Dongying, set up operations in Shinan, and 33 venture capital funds finished registration procedures.
