The 2020 Taishan Science & Technology Forum was held at the Shinan International Center for Shipping, Trade and Financial Innovation on Aug 14.

The forum was sponsored by the Shandong Association for Science & Technology and undertaken by the Shinan district government and the Shandong Nautical Institute. Experts, scholars and scientific and technical workers from over 10 universities and colleges in the fields of shipping, insurance, the Internet and information technology attended the event.

At the forum, COSCO Shipping (Qingdao) Co Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Qingdao Research Institute of Wuhan University of Technology. The two parties will cooperate in smart port development and the transformation of cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements in areas such as design, construction and movement of LNG ships.

Based on the current situation, discussions were carried out on the hot topics of providing environmental safety guarantees for offshore foreign economic activities, building a maritime power and promoting innovation and development of shipping technologies.

It was another high-level industrial forum held in the Shinan International Center for Shipping, Trade and Financial Innovation since its establishment last year.

Jointly constructed by the Shinan district government and COSCO Shipping (Qingdao) Co Ltd, the center opened in 2020 as an industrial zone integrating international trade, shipping services, global freight forwarding, marine-related finance and high-end business and government services.
