Shinan district in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, plans to develop a thriving nighttime economy, with traders and cultural attractions currently enjoying booming business with a new nighttime cultural market, according to local media.
Shinan is engaged in boosting its nighttime economy, which is considered a key driver in stimulating consumer spending, creating jobs and generally raising the quality of life in Qingdao.
The "Fun and Games" cultural market for summer shopping season opened in front of Shinan District Library on the evening of Aug 15.
Visitors enjoyed an eyeful of cultural and creative products there, including embossed arts and crafts products and creative ceramics, mugs, fans and snazzy household items.
"My parents made them all by themselves. I'm responsible for selling them. Here are some earrings and here are some brooches…" said a boy, who was accompanied by his parents at their roadside stall.
The little vendor's calls to prospective buyers attracted many curious visitors and some of them said they would love to buy the products as souvenirs.
