The opening ceremony of the "2020 Qingdao Aug 8 Shopping Festival" was held in Shinan district, Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, on Aug 8.

The event was meant to better meet consumer demands, establish consumption hot spots, and promote the transformation and upgrading of businesses in Qingdao.

At the opening ceremony, Xue Qingguo, a member of the standing committee of the Shinan Party committee, announced the general requirements for the shopping festival - all departments must commit to maintaining market order and ensuring the quality of products, help businesses treat customers properly, and provide consumers with a comfortable consumption environment.

The shopping festival will last for 100 days, from Aug 8 to Nov 15. It is divided into three sections: the "Fashion Qingdao Happy Shopping Festival" from Aug 8 to Sept 20, the "Mid-Autumn Festival & National Day Shopping Festival" from Sept 21 to Oct 20, and the "Double 11(Nov 11) shopping gala" from Oct 20 to Nov 15.

The event will feature 100 themed online and offline activities throughout the three stages.
