Invest in Shinan district

Shinan district, located along the southern coast of Qingdao, is a center of politics, economy, tourism, culture, science and technology, finance and trade. It was the venue for the sailing competitions of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2008, as well as the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in 2018. With an area of 30.01 square kilometers, the district has a permanent population of 588,800.

The district's economy saw rapid development in 2019. The GDP reached to 121.75 billion yuan ($17.15 billion), a year-on-year increase of 5.4 percent. Its social total retail sales of consumer goods  increased 7.03 percent. The revenue in the general public budgets was up to 8.72 billion yuan and the total foreign trade value was 64.5 billion yuan.

Business environment

The district's CBD (central business district) on Hong Kong Middle Road is the most bustling one in Qingdao and probably in Shandong province. The total construction area of buildings in the district is 5 million sq m. There are 129 commercial buildings whose construction areas exceed 10,000 sq m. Landmarks like Qingdao Center and Resources Center are also located in the district. There are also several high-end urban complexes under construction which will be put into use in two or three years.

Shinan is home to headquarters of large enterprises, such as the regional headquarters of Royal Dutch Shell and Maersk Group and the headquarters of local enterprises Tsingtao Beer and Hisense. There are also 150 financial institutions among which 30 are foreign invested, a batch of well-known global intermediary organizations, including PwC and KPMG, and a dozen scientific institutions engaging in maritime research.

Urban environment

Lying along the coast, the district boasts unique seaside landscapes of red tiling, green trees, blue sea, clear sky and white sails. About 75 percent of the scenic spots in Qingdao are in Shinan district, such as "the most beautiful bay in the world", Huiquan Bay, the "exhibition of the world's architecture" at Eight Great Passes, and SCO summit venue, the Olympic Sailing Center.

Convenient transport

Shinan is the district with the highest density of subway stations in Qingdao. It is only half an hour's drive to Qingdao Liuting International Airport and one hour from the Qingdao-Jiaodong International Airport which is under construction. Qingdao Railway Station in the district has trains to all the major cities around the country.

Living environment

The district boasts abundant and high-quality education resources, with about 100 middle schools, primary schools and kindergartens. There are also more than 400 medical and health institutions, such as the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University and Qingdao Eye Hospital, and 17 nursing institutions.
