The Selected Mall, a new e-commerce platform, was officially launched in Shinan District, Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, on Jan 4. The opening ceremony was attended by more than 300 guests, including government officials, businessmen and consumers.
The platform will help consumers buy commodities directly from brand owners at reasonable prices and enable shopkeepers to obtain products via joint procurement and delivery, according to a press release.
The Selected brand was launched in the Chinese market in 2013 and now has brick-and-mortar and online stores in 80 percent of Chinese cities.

Zheng Haowen, general manager of Selected Information Technology Co Ltd, delivered a keynote speech on new retail after the launch ceremony.
"Our company aims to spread advanced concepts of new retail to more enterprises and help them cultivate brands and improve the quality of their products," said Zheng, who is also deputy chairman of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce.
The operator of the Selected Mall is based in the New 100 Creative Culture Industry Park in Shinan District. Zheng said her company would make strategic decisions according to social needs and market changes and work to inject new vigor into the city in 2020.
