An international architecture cluster -- in the Taipingjiao area, in Shinan district in Qingdao, -- has become a distinctive landmark in the city due to its unique architecture features, long history and profound culture, according to local officials.
They said the buildings integrate a variety of striking architectural features from different countries and their functions revolve around exhibitions, charity, culture, food and homestays.
The Taipingjiao area plans to promote art exchanges between China and abroad. This year, more than 40 art and cultural activities have been held in the area, such as Qingdao Music Week, the "Seagull Literature Award" ceremony, an English and art salon and more.
The music week for Tan Dun, a famous Chinese musician, was the first in China to be held at city-level around this musician – and critics said was an important step for Qingdao in making itself a city of music.
Officials said the cultural and art activities have attracted more writers and artists to the city, as well as also providing great experiences for locals.
They added that several old buildings in Taipingjiao area will be open to the public in 2020.
