Swimmers from Shinan district won five team championships in a swimming competition recently held in Qingdao, Shandong province, putting them in first place in terms of total score.
The competition, hosted by the Qingdao Municipal Sports Bureau, consisted of a total of 90 events. "All-around" individual events were offered for the first time this year, in addition to the conventional individual and group events.
A total of 146 swimmers from Shinan participated in the event, making the Shinan team the biggest participating team.
The team used the event as a way to prepare for a sports meet to be held in Qingdao in 2021.
The team received several medals in the competitions and participated in the provincial swimming competition for the first time this year. The team has won the city's primary and secondary school-league competitions for the past three years.
The Shinan district bureau of education and sports plans to improve training for swimmers by working together with schools and social organizations.
