The 2019 Qingdao World University Student Fashion Design Competition will be held in Shinan district, Qingdao, Shandong province from Nov 7 to 9, gathering many fashion talents from around the world.

Talents from 25 fashion design colleges around the world will take part in the competition, and fashion industry representatives and experts will be invited to participate and serve as judges.

The event will consist of a work exhibition, a fashion show, salons, a fashion education fair, an award ceremony, and a signing ceremony. The activities will be held at various well-known sites throughout the city, including the trestle, the MIXC, and the fashion industrial park of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.

A fashion salon was recently held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, as a lead up to the competition. The salon was meant to further the development of the fashion industry in Qingdao and Shenzhen. Qingdao hopes to turn itself into an international metropolis by cooperating with Shenzhen enterprises. 

During the competition, participants from five world-renowned fashion colleges, including Parsons School of Design in the United States and ISAL Paris in France will discuss fashion education and the latest fashion trends.

Three international colleges plan to establish practice centers in Qingdao, and participating designers and colleges will sign agreements with fashion enterprises in Qingdao.

The integration of international and local fashion is expected to boost fashion culture in Shinan district. The district hopes the competition will attract more talent and spur innovation in its fashion industry.
