Music week named after famous composer Tan Dun opens in Qingdao

Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong province, recently hosted a music week named after world-renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun.
The event was the country's first urban music week named after Tan Dun whose art and music have had significant influence on the world, and the event will play an important role in Qingdao's construction of an international fashion city.
The music week, which ended on July 13, staged a variety of music activities aimed to combine the aesthetics of life and education in art aesthetics to give locals a music feast. Tan Dun and his friends also performed during the event.
Alongside the press conference held on July 10 in Taipingjiao, a European-style residential quarter, organizers staged a music art sharing session, during which celebrities such as Russian guitarist Artyom Dervoed and Chinese suona player Liu Wenwen gave excellent performances.

Taipingjiao, which features European-style buildings, has become a well-known cultural landmark in Qingdao thanks to its abundance of foreign cultures, various businesses and rich artistic atmosphere. Fifteen pavilions have opened in the area, each themed on the culture of a particular country.
The press conference was held in the Belgian Culture Experience Pavilion, a famous 1,500-square-meter seaside courtyard in Shinan district.
