The abundant aroma of a large number of blossoms infused Shinan district of Qingdao, Shandong province with the fragrant air of spring as the 2019 Qingdao Flower Admiring Festival opened on April 13 at Zhongshan Park.

Themed around "Fashionable Shinan, Flowers in Bloom", the event displays a collage of various flowers, including oriental cherry, peach, and tulip blossoms. Peony as well as crape myrtle, lotus, and chrysanthemum are also ready to burst into bloom in summer and autumn. Their flowering times range from April to October, creating a perfect three-season flower admiration site and showing the spirit of a vigorous Shinan.

Visitors take pleasure in viewing the multi-layered garden landscapes that contain sophisticated designs. Apart from visual enjoyment, cultural and artistic activities such as poetry recitations, photography exhibition, and song-and-dance performances are also on offer to entertain tourists.

The event is jointly sponsored by the Shinan district government and the Qingdao bureau of parks and woods.

At the opening ceremony, flower seeds were distributed to the public for free to support awareness of protecting the environment and building a green and beautiful city.

Shinan has planted nearly five hectares of flowers and there are more than 50 kinds of flowers and seedlings. Shinan aims to become the cleanest and most beautiful city in the country and has been implementing precise urban management and intelligent construction on a long term basis.
