The Qingdao municipal science and technology bureau, located in East China's Shandong province, recently approved construction of 119 municipal key laboratories, including the Qingdao Marine Biodiversity and Conservation Laboratory, bringing the number of key municipal laboratories under construction in Qingdao to 194.
Upon completion, Qingdao will have nine State-level laboratories, 51 provincial-level laboratories and 194 municipal key laboratories, which lays a solid foundation for the improvement of the city's basic research.
The 119 municipal key laboratories approved for construction will focus on the city's advantageous industries, emerging industries and its future industrial planning layout.
The discipline-based laboratories among them are expected to organize high-level scientific research, train high-level scientific and technological talent and provide scientific and technological support for industrial development.
Enterprise-based laboratories will carry out applied basic research and common technology research to advance the development of technology and related industries.
