The Qingdao Haier Refrigerator Connected Factory, powered by the COSMOPlat Industrial Internet Platform, stood out as the third lighthouse factory in Qingdao city – located in East China's Shandong province – in the ninth list of global lighthouse factories released by the World Economic Forum, or WEF on Oct 11.
In 2018, the WEF and US-based global management consultancy McKinsey & Company launched the Global Lighthouse Factory Initiative to provide an internationally recognized platform to promote and accelerate large-scale digital transformation in manufacturing.
To date, 114 manufacturers have been selected as lighthouse factories that are leading the adoption of advanced technologies all over the world.
Based on the COSMOPlat Industrial Internet Platform's mass customization models and the support of digital technology, the Qingdao plant focuses on the entire process of intelligent manufacturing of high-end refrigerators and is said to have realized efficient production flows from the front assembly process to final assembly.
The Haier connected refrigerator plant in Qingdao is also the sixth lighthouse factory powered by COSMOPlat.
Industry insiders say that this means that COSMOPlat has advanced from being the leader of lighthouse factories in China to being a digital enterprise leader and continues to lead the wave of digital transformation in the global manufacturing sector.
