Qingdao sees increase in tourism during holiday

During the Qingming Festival holiday, a spring celebration driven by culture and ecology unfolded in Qingdao, showcasing the vitality of this coastal tourism and resort city.

Throughout the three-day holiday, Qingdao's cultural and tourism attractions, streets, museums, and more experienced a surge in visitor numbers, with new cultural and tourism offerings making their debut.

Activities such as flower viewing, cruises, and nearby leisure excursions led to strong consumption, highlighting the close integration of culture and tourism. According to data from online travel platform Ctrip, Qingdao saw a 10 percent year-on-year increase in tourism-related bookings and a 16 percent increase in flight bookings during the Qingming Festival holiday.

Ctrip data also revealed that during the holiday, popular attractions like Laoshan Mountain scenic area and the Tsingtao Beer Museum experienced a surge in popularity, leading to high hotel occupancy rates in surrounding areas.

Beijing emerged as the largest source of out-of-province tourists, accounting for 22 percent of the total, followed by Shanghai. Tourists from nearby cities such as Jinan, Yantai, and Weifang also flocked to Qingdao to kick off their holiday adventures.
