In deep spring, the parks of Jimo district in Qingdao, Shandong province, are bursting with vibrant colors — creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

In recent years, Jimo district has been beefing up efforts to advance its development into a "park city", aiming to provide its locals with a greener, more accessible and convenient lifestyle.

Wang Min, a resident of Jimo district, was pleasantly surprised to find the changes the made to Mengwangshan Park, which she visits every day. "There are more big trees like cherry blossoms and Chinese flowering apples and new facilities like cultural corridors. It's becoming more and more beautiful!" she exclaimed.

According to Wang Kang, who works at the district's garden sanitation service center, Mengwangshan Park has focused on mountain restoration and ecological rehabilitation following the principle of "tailoring measures to local conditions and formulating specific plans for each mountain". In addition to increasing and replenishing greenery to restore the mountain's ecology, efforts have also been made to improve the park's infrastructure, creating an ecological oxygen bar for people of all ages and meeting their diverse needs.

This is just a microcosm of Jimo district's "park city" development. Since the launch of the three-year action plan for the development of a "park city", Jimo has built a number of public green spaces offering leisure, fitness, and entertainment facilities, including parks and tree-lined corridors.

This year, Jimo plans to invest 138 million yuan ($19 million) in 18 greening projects, including mountain parks, park green spaces, tree-lined corridors, and coastal greenways, further enhancing the district's green spaces, increasing the city's natural green lungs, and creating a more beautiful and livable environment for local residents.
