Laoshan district in Qingdao, Shandong province was recently approved as a pilot site to build a friendly youth development region in the province.

In recent years, Laoshan has accelerated the construction of a youth-friendly urban area and is implementing various measures to enhance the district's appeal to young people.

It has formulated a series of policies to support the development of young talents that cover talent introductions, cultivation, selection, and housing allowances.

It is building the biggest international talent community in the country that includes a total planned area of about 42.8 square kilometers. By the end of 2022, the district is expected to have employed nearly 20,000 talents of various types and supported 800 people to start businesses.

Laoshan now is home to 13 listed companies, seven unicorn enterprises, 24 gazelle enterprises and 564 outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises. The district has built a bridge of communication between enterprises and young people.

It has implemented internships, business trainings and employment promotion programs for college graduates. Relying on online and offline recruitment platforms and youth internship and training platforms, it has organized a series of activities for more than 10 sessions, bringing together more than 300 enterprises and more than 1,000 jobs, with more than 700,000 online and offline participants.

The district also provides rental housing subsidies for newly employed workers, and provides rental housing, and sales of property rights housing for talented people.
