Intl sailing week, marine festival kicks off in Qingdao

The 14th Qingdao International Sailing Week and Qingdao International Marine Festival kicked off on the evening of Aug 5 at the Olympic Sailing Center in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province, featuring a 10-day sailing event in which participants will brave the wind and waves.

The event, lasting until Aug 14, will include more than 50 activities in Qingdao, such as sailing competitions, sports promotions, cultural exchanges and business and trade transactions, to promote sailing and the city's sports industry.

The China Sailing City Super League, a march organized by the Chinese Yachting Association, the 2022 "Mayor's Cup" International Sailing Race, the Shandong Peninsula City Sailing Race, the Qingdao International OP Sailing Camp and Sailing Race and other sailing activities will be held during the festival as well, which will be attended by over 60 teams from domestic cities.

The City Club Open Regatta International (CCOR) will be held at the Olympic Sailing Center at the end of August. Focusing on the integration of culture, art and entertainment, the event attracts many teams with high levels of experience and international competitiveness.

Team Qingdao claimed the Clipper 2019-20 Race title on July 30. The crew was awarded the honorary "Sailing City" international promotion ambassador medal and certificate at the opening ceremony of the sailing festival in Qingdao.

Qingdao initiated the establishment of the Sports Development Alliance of Provinces and Regions along the Yellow River Basin, and signed strategic cooperation agreements with Taiyuan, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Hohhot, Lanzhou, Xining and other cities to promote sports exchange and cooperation with cities in the Yellow River Basin.
