Qingdao has been promoting the construction of a digital city and 61 percent of the annual mission had been completed as of June, local media reported.

This year, the city is focusing on building five major projects, namely the national digital government benchmark project, the inclusive digital society model project, the first-class digital economy demonstration project, the digital facilities marking project and the comprehensive security system supporting project.

The city also issued the first batch of pilot demonstration implementation plans for digital transformation. A two-year pilot demonstration of digital transformation is being carried out in Shinan district, Laoshan district and the West Coast New Area.

The city is building a competitive digital economy. From January to April, the revenue and added value of the digital economy's core industries were 105.75 billion yuan ($15.65 billion) and 39.17 billion yuan, respectively, up 12.9 percent and 13.7 percent year-on-year.

It has formulated policies and measures for integrated circuits, virtual reality, as well as software and information technology services to step up digital industrialization.

The city is building a high-level digital society. The evaluation of new smart city construction in Qingdao ranked first in Shandong province, and the resident satisfaction rate reached 86.2 percent, which is 4.2 percent higher than last year.
