The Pingdu Economic Development Zone in Qingdao is working steadily to develop its industrial clusters, especially the food and beverage industry led by Chinese brewery giant Tsingtao.

As of the end of 2020, the production capacity of Tsingtao's third plant in the Pingdu Economic Development Zone had reached one million kiloliters per year and it had realized full coverage of the beer industrial chain, including raw material production, packaging materials, logistics and warehousing, business circulation, fashion, cultural tourism, and private customization.

Tsingtao's third plant in the zone is made up of a 21.33-hectre production area and a 19.33-hectare logistics zone that mainly produces the classic series of Tsingtao Brewery.

From 2016 to 2020, Tsingtao Brewery Group's Pingdu enterprises have invested a total of 2.7 billion yuan ($422.48 million) and achieved a total output of 16.44 billion yuan. The enterprises have paid 824 million yuan in taxes over the past four years, accounting for 5.02 percent of Pingdu's total.

Tsingtao's smart industrial park, worth 590 million yuan, is also currently under construction in the zone, including facilities such as a smart logistics center, customized production platforms, a package printing factory, and yeast processing plants.

The company's brewery in the zone will become the largest beer industrial center in Asia when its expansion is completed this year, according to Tsingtao.

Officials of the zone said that they will continue to improve the business environment and support the development of a beer industrial chain.
