Tourists made 4.48 million trips to the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province during the country's eight-day Golden Week holiday, generating tourism revenue of 4.65 billion yuan ($692.11 million), according to the Qingdao municipal bureau of culture and tourism.

Official data showed that during this year's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Oct 1 to Oct 8, the city's 67 reporting star-rated hotels saw an average occupancy rate of 39.07 percent and total revenue of 43.31 million yuan.

In addition, the city's 93 monitored scenic spots (A-level or above) received 2.83 million visitors, up nearly 70 percent from the same period last year.

Badaguan Scenic Area, No 1 Bathing Beach, Zhanqiao Pier, Laoshan Mountain, and Qingdao Beer Museum were among the most popular tourist attractions.

Many young couples chose to take their wedding photos in Qingdao during the holiday, taking advantage of the city's distinctive red tiled buildings, lush greenery, clear waters, blue skies, white beaches and European style architecture.
