Official statistics showed that more than 8 million items have been handled through the city's online government service channels.
In addition, the city has launched electronic ID cards, which allow more than 1,800 government services at the municipal and district levels to be handled online.
Qingdao ranked fifth among 32 key domestic cities in a recent evaluation of the online government service capabilities conducted by the e-government research center of the National Academy of Governance.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Administrative Service and the Qingdao Bureau of Commerce established a mechanism, allowing overseas investors to register foreign-funded enterprises online.
In a public opinion poll at the end of last year, the satisfaction rate of Qingdao's government service was 97.1 percent, up 0.92 percent year-on-year, while the city's enterprise satisfaction index was 95.24 points, showing that both individuals and enterprises were satisfied with the city's government services, local officials said.
Qingdao's mobile government app also offers services such as bus inquiries, subway ticket purchases and paying utility bills to provide convenience to the public.
"This year more services will be offered online. Nearly 2,000 items will be available by the end of the year," said Cui Weidong, director of Qingdao Big Data Development Administration.
