The Qingdao CBD took advantage of the 2018 International City Management Qingdao Conference to invite Kamran Khan, Peter Agh, and other foreign experts to visit and inspect the CBD on April 11, looking for an international perspective and new development strategies for the CBD and city management.

The experts visited and inspected the new energy car rental center, one of the smart transportation projects undertaken in the CBD, and held a detailed discussion on the promotion and application of low-carbon and environmentally friendly new energy vehicles, as well as effective management techniques.

Afterwards, experts, the administrative committee, and related companies held discussions. At the meeting, Yang Jian, director of the administrative committee, described the overall situation of the Qingdao CBD and their experiences in transportation development and parking linkage. Related enterprises introduced administrative and smart city construction projects, and discussed business district planning, urban governance, etc., with foreign experts.

Foreign experts fully affirmed the current status of the CBD, and put forward some valuable suggestions for the next stage of operation and development.

"CBD is a calling card for global cities, such as Manhattan (New York), London, and so on. The central business district of Qingdao aims to build a national-level CBD, which will promote the integration and development of the entire region's commercial environment", said Peter Agh, president of the European branch of ICMA and a Slovakian local government problem specialist.

In the next few years, the Qingdao CBD will create a financial wealth innovation zone which will hopefully have far-reaching effects, a focus zone for high-end service industries, and a modern intelligent traffic demonstration zone to promote the concentration of high-end industries such as finance, science and technology, and information.

It will also follow the example of Shibei district, which integrates production and urban development, adhere to the "three major industry directions + four new types of business" industrial model, and build a national-level CBD by 2022.
