Hisense Group, a Chinese multinational white goods and electronics manufacturer, recently decided to expand its research and development institute in Silicon Valley to a regional R&D center.

It's Hisense's third R&D center in the United States following establishment of its US headquarters in Atlanta and a New Jersey research base.

After the upgrading, the center will focus on research of display technology, microchips, optical communication and artificial intelligence technology.

Hisense has now set up seven overseas research institutes in various countries including Japan, Canada, Israel and Germany, forming an initial international research team.
