The Hisense Group used technological innovation to develop into one of the largest electronic information companies in China.

The Qingdao-based group has developed multiple operations in multi-media, household electronic appliances, smart communications, other IT systems and services.

Hisense's sales income increased from 10.8 billion yuan ($1.7 billion) in 2000 to 93.2 billion yuan in 2013, according to the company.

In 2013, Hisense's sales of smart TVs increased 120 percent from 2012, which was double the average growth rate of the entire industry.

Its TV sales have been the highest in the domestic market for the past decade and it is also a nation leader in optical communication and smart transportation systems.

Hisense developed independent intellectual property rights of audio and video processing chips in 2005, which ended a history of reliance on imports.

The company's smart TV technologies focused on modules, backlight and photographic processing.

These self-developed technologies allowed the company to establish China's first large-sized LCD module manufacturing facility for TV sets in 2007. This move freed the domestic industry from dependence on imports.

In 2013, Hisense's LCD TV module production capacity reached 10 million units a year and made it China's biggest manufacturer.

At the end of March the company unveiled its patented ULED TV products, which are a milestone in China's TV screen technology. The products have more subtle and vivid picture and sound and their performance is better than other TV screens on the market.

The company's statistics suggest that by the end of February, Hisense TV sets accounted for 18.9 percent of the domestic market and its smart TVs accounted for 21.3 percent.
