The Qingdao International Marine Festival drew to a successful close in Qingdao, Shandong province, on Aug 4, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The ocean festival, themed around the joy of the ocean, hosted more than 40 activities concerning marine culture, tourism, economy, technology, sports and the military. Thousands of tourists from home and abroad came to enjoy the nine-day festival.

The Qingdao International Marine Festival, launched in 1999, has become a global platform for communication and cooperation in marine technology, culture and entertainment.
